Fleet Mechanic
General Summary:
The Fleet Mechanic will perform repairs and maintenance in accordance with industry standards, run diagnostics on vehicles and work closely with other team members to meet company goals and safety standards.
Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:

High school graduate or equivalent technical training and/or experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the required duties.

Must have or be able to obtain a valid Virginia Class A CDL with 60 days of employment.

Must possess a good driving history with no reckless driving convictions or DUIs within the past 3 years.

Must be able to work varying shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Must be a certified state inspector or be capable of becoming one.

Must possess basic knowledge of personal computers to include Internet usage, windows, and standard software packages.

Must have knowledge of standard shop practices and techniques.

Must have the ability to perform mechanical repairs on engines, transmissions, and differentials. Thermal King / Carrier experience is a plus.

Must be able to handle heavy manual labor.

Must be knowledgeable of and capable of performing basic welding and fabrication.

Must possess or be willing to obtain air conditioning certification.

Must have the ability to read electrical schematics and diagnostics.

Professional business appearance required. (uniform/steel toe shoes)
Duties and Responsibilities:
-
Prepare and maintain appropriate records and reports to document maintenance procedures.

Responsible for repairing and maintaining automotive/truck maintenance equipment.

Diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, differentials, electrical systems, and auxiliary equipment systems.

Perform welding and fabricating operations.

Must be safety-conscious and unafraid of heights- job will require employee to work on tall equipment.

Responsible for maintaining a safe working environment to include the wearing of proper safety equipment.

Responsible for maintaining a clean working environment at all times which includes disposing of all used material in a safe and legal manner.

Reports any unsafe conditions found on vehicles or shop work area to Shop Foreman.

Responsible for conducting emergency road service on all Company vehicles.

Transports heavy equipment to repair facilities for specialized service or repair.

May require employee to perform work outside in any and all-weather conditions.

Perform all other duties the Shop Foreman may deem necessary.
