Vice President of Operations

 

The Vice President of Operations is responsible for constantly seeking new ways to train and develop employees while enhancing profitability, operational efficiencies, safety in the Warehouse, Delivery, Fleet/Facility, and Routing Departments. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee assigned company operations on a daily basis, building a highly inclusive culture ensuring employees thrive as organizational outcomes are met.

  • Create Operations Plans and Budgets based on company goals.

  • Develop strategies to tighten controls and ensure inventory adjustment reports are complete and accurate.

  • Ensure adequate warehouse staffing at all times in order to meet receiving, picking, and loading efficiency goals.

  • Ensure all personnel receive up-to-date safety training and that all Company and OSHA Safety requirements are followed.

  • Conduct weekly / monthly meetings with the Department Managers to review Company KOIs and to ensure adherence to performance standards as established in the Company annual plan.

  • Review delivery performance trends including average cases per route and average cases per account. Develop action plans for changes in routing procedures that would improve productivity or reduce costs.

  • Provide leadership and direction for the fleet and facility maintenance departments.

  • Manage the company’s CAPEX plan which involves ordering, purchasing, and disposing of company fleet vehicles, including trucks, trailers, cars, vans, and any equipment required for facility operation in order to maintain the quality of Company’s operational excellence and desired image.

  • Provide a clear and comprehensive annual update to the BOD on Company’s status in all Operations areas including a comprehensive review of inventory/warehouse concerns and solutions, and delivery concerns and solutions.

  • Ensuring “best-in-market” DSD service to on- and off-premise accounts through best-in-class operations execution, and maintaining superior “partner” relationships with retailers and Suppliers.

  • Perform annual performance reviews of all direct reports, ensuring each has a defined career path, a personal development plan, and is completing prescribed internal and external training programs.

  • Actively supports other departments in the achievement of goals.

  • Ensures compliance; with local, state, federal and regional regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, DOT and etc.)

  • Evaluates and ensures the appropriate use and updating of all department software systems.

  • Communicates with sales to collaboratively resolve any customer or delivery opportunities or issues.

  • Participates in company decisions as a member of executive staff.

  • Maintains employee relations through regular department meetings.

  • Establishes on-going interaction.

  • Keeps open communication channels with employees by answering questions and explaining policies and procedures.

  • Monitors employee morale.

  • Implement or responds to ideas to improve employee engagement.

  • Interprets trainings and consistently enforces company policies and procedures.

  • Performs management functions of staff selection, compensation, development, discipline, performance reviews and/or terminations.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required, in business administration, supply chain management, operations management or equivalent combination school and related experience.

Experience

  • 7 years of operations preferred

  • 5 years of management preferred

  • 3 years of leadership preferred

  • Distribution and /or transportation experience greatly preferred

Professional Skills

  • Able to demonstrate progressive levels of management experience.

  • Capable of working with peers and employees from other departments, customers and the business community proactively and constructively.

  • Work in a well-organized manner and capable of following established procedures, practices and comply with local, state and federal regulations.

  • Manage the pressures and stress associated with a deadline-oriented atmosphere and customer service issues.

  • Demonstrates skill in making independent decisions in support of company policies and procedures promptly.

  • Able to read, analyze and interpret general business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

  • Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, customers, and vendors.

  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of tangible variables in situations where only limited adjustment exists.

  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Proven knowledge of spreadsheet software and word processing software, and the ability to learn Hoffman Beverage’s technology software and programs.

  • Must have excellent computer skills.

  • Working knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, as well as environmental regulations/legislation and governing bodies.

  • Successfully engage and lead individual and team discussions and meetings.

  • Apply all relevant policies in a consistent, timely and objective manner.

  • An understanding of the market drivers and the financial factors that will impact Company’s business.

  • Experience formulating short-term and long-term strategic and tactical plans to increase operational efficiencies and reduce distribution costs.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires exposure to inside and outside conditions, extreme cold and hot temperatures, with the following physical demands: bending, climbing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, sitting, walking, pushing, pulling, talking, hearing, carrying, and lifting/moving up to 90 pounds.
